Conversations with the universe

You might be one of those people that likes to know how the mind and soul of an artist work. I am to share with you how I got inspired into creating 'conversations with the universe'.

The inspiration

I love the feeling of looking at the stars on a clear night and getting that sense of being a little particle of dust, floating around in an immense universe that is impossible to catch in the human mind. We are all made of stardust. Can you imagine to be just this extremely tiny part of the universe? A human between millions, a dot on the earth, the earth a dot in the solar system, our solar system a dot in a galaxy and we don't know how many universes there are containing galaxies.

“Look again at that dot.

That's here.

That's home.

That's us.

On it everyone you love,

everyone you know,

everyone you ever heard of,

every human being who ever was, lived out their lives.

(...)

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena."- Carl Sagan

How it felt while creating

This artwork gave me a lot of joy and was playful to paint. Every connection is expressed as a place where something new starts. It felt as a hide and seek game to find every crossed line and dot it. When people's lives cross one another something happens that might be very light and joyful in recognition of each others souls. Sometimes I experience communication between people as a struggle and meet deep solitude within my desire for real connection. It's my wish to bring this mindset, feeling and connection of soulful beauty and wandering mind through my painting to you. ___________________________________________________

The expert speaking

"It is a very strong piece, with a beautiful tension between the heavy dark places and very fine light lines. In this artpiece the artist knows to catch the interaction between the light of connection when people meet each other, against the darkness of solitude when the connection fails."

- Laurence Van Steenbergen, Expositioncoach
